For almost two decades, Ernie Button has explored the macrophotography world of the dried remains of Scotch Whisky along with bi-annual journeys to Scotland, the home of Scotch whisky, exploring the beauty of Scotland and the creation of Scotch. He is an award-winning photographer based out of Phoenix, Arizona where he has lived for the past 47 years. His photography has been recognized both nationally and internationally with exhibitions in the United States, China, Scotland and other parts of Europe. His work is included in such permanent collections as the Lishui Photography Museum in China, The Macallan Distillery in Scotland, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona, the Southeast Museum of Photography in Florida as well as many private collections.
Ernie’s whisky photography images have been featured in numerous articles both in print and on-line with features in National Geographic Magazine, the New York Times, Whisky Advocate, American Photo, Popular Photography, Esquire, Wired, Smithsonian, NPR, Whisky Quarterly, Popular Mechanics, Slate, Scientific American and the Huff Post. Ernie continues to create these images because he finds them endlessly fascinating, allowing him to further enjoy ‘drinks and a show’.
